Thoughtful Eyes
We are currently updating our wall samples right now. So, as I go over Deborah’s past sessions this baby boy jumped out at me so I had to share it with you.

Bobby, Dee, and Hanna

Hurricane Hanna tried to keep Bobby and Dee from having their beach wedding today in Wildwood Crest. Hanna didn’t stand a chance. As the time drew near to exchange their vows not only did the rain stop but the sun even shined through the clouds.
It seems that nothing will be able to keep them from each other.

Not too late for Seniors

So the summer went by so fast you can’t believe your’e already back in school. And it seems like all you did was work , work, work with no time to take care of yourself. The good news is you can still make it in for Senior portraits and get the file into the school on time. The bad news is the older you get the faster the summers go by.
Make sure you enjoy this year in high school because before you know it you’ll be wearing that cap and gown again.
B.Y.O.Baby

We’re offering something new this Sept., FREE sessions for all Babies, Children and Pregnant Mommies.
Through the professional photography associations we belong to I have met lots of great and talented photographers. And I can proudly tell you that I can’t think of anyone in NJ who is better with babies and kids than Deborah. Sure I’m biased, but if you don’t believe me come on in for this special and then tell me if I’m right or wrong.
Supporting our Local Charities
We are always happy to support our local Rotary Clubs and Rotary Dist. 7640. Yesterday Jack Kammer and his family used the gift certificate they won during a silent auction held by the district. Both Jack and his wife are lifelong Rotarians and serve their local club and the district.

If you would like us to help support your local charity please send us a request in writing to the studio address and we will be happy to see what we can do.
Everyone should look their best.
When most people think about photographic enhancement they usually think of the glossy magazine cover girls. Those photographs have had every blemish removed, teeth so white they glow in the dark, and major body modification. Now while that helps sell magazines it is beyond anything we would do in the studio. I feel you should look your best but still look like you.

Layton came in to get wall portraits of his family. The kids are young and they looked great as is. His wife Stacy is proof that an “Average Joe” can get lucky and marry a very smart woman who is also a 10. So she had very little enhancement to be done. That’s no reason to call it a day and skimp out on dad. These portraits will hang in their home and offices for a long time so everyone should look their best.
Best of Show

Tonight the PPANJ South held it’s annual Off the Wall Print Competition. Deborah and I both did very well with our wedding and portrait. Next time you visit the studio you’ll notice the blue ribbons hanging from our entries. One of my prints “Fingers & Folds” was selected by the judges from all of the Blue Ribbon winners as the “Best of Show”.
I’d also like to congratulate Eric Weeks on winning the “Best Folio” during tonight’s competition.
Stuck in a fog
The Jersey shore makes a great backdrop for family memories and photos. This Saterday we had a unique bit of weather in Ocean City for our beach session. As the sun went down the cold water brought up fog and a cool breeze.

Now this was way cool because the fog blended the horizon with the sky. In the studio we use seamless backgrounds to accomplish the same thing.
It’s a Philadelphia kind of Weekend
So, Saturday we did a very interesting wedding but I’ll post about that later after we start processing those images. Now I’d like to tell you about a model shoot we did in the city with local talent Em Semmel.

Please excuse our dust
We decided to take on a little remodeling project. Nothing too complicated, just some fresh paint, trim and a laminate floor. Now the entire project has taken way longer than we had expected.
It’s amazing the things you can find in a building this old. We ripped out the carpet to discover several layers of all kinds of things. Now we are down to the original oak wood flooring, some slabs of concrete, and some tile work. The downside is we never found any hidden treasure or stacks of cash. Upside is I have a new appreciation for floor leveler and those who have to use it.
What we did find was a closet, sort of. Ever since we moved in we had a door to nowhere. The landlord told us that it was nailed shut from the other side and it was walled in. Yesterday I had to get the carpet out from under the doorway. I noticed a breeze from under the door and decided to force it open. This is normally the part in a Stephen King novel where things start to go bad.
Just the opposite happened to us. We found it was walled in but it was also just big enough to make a storage closet out of.
Say Hello to the Class of 2009
We’ve wished the best to all of the 2008 grads and it is already time to be thinking about our Class of 2009. The summer is when we do the bulk of our senior sessions. Now is the time to make sure that your senior portraits will show you looking your best.
It’s still not widely known that you don’t have to use the school contracted photographer for your senior session. About four years ago it was written into New Jersey State law that you have the right to use any photographer. How often does that happen, students being given a right to make up their own mind?
So here is your chance to have some say over how you’ll be remembered in the Year Book. It does not matter if you choose a traditional studio session, a beach, an outdoor location, fashion/glamour, or just casual. Deb’s Studio will make you look your best. All of our finished portraits receive some level of enhancement.
For example:
So don’t let the summer slip by and be stuck with the same old school photographer and same old photo as everyone else. Look your best!!
Mid-week Weddings
Most of our weddings are Friday to Sunday. My personal favorite day is Friday. Everyone is always happy to have a three day weekend and what better reason than attending a wedding.
Well yesterday we did our first Thursday wedding. Now the guests get a four day weekend
The Biker and the Babe
Downer Methodist may just be the oldest and smallest church in town but it can hold a lot of love. Back on May 31st Tiffany and Dave planned a very unique wedding day and one that I’m sure their guests will be talking about fondly for years.
Dave arrived on his godfather’s Harley Davidson. As guests would enter the church it was obvious that every detail had been planned out to a T. And it seemed like the church was built especially for the two of them to become husband and wife.
Bride vs. Road Tar
So you’ve planned your wedding for a year or two and all the pieces are falling into place. But then the week of your wedding the township decides to repave your street. Yep, your tax dollars finally at work just on the wrong day. (I should have taken a picture of the steam roller going up and down the street.)
Well the street was dug so deep that the Rolls Royce was unable to make it into the drive way. So, what do you do now??? Easy, we moved the Rolls one street over and used a neighbor’s house as a stand in for the mom and dad’s house.

After the ceremony we decided to make a pit stop on the way to the hall and soak up some setting sunlight.

A relaxing day
One of our favorite places to take a day trip is Longwood Gardens. My family has been going there since I was five or six. My father used to take great joy in photographing our family in the gardens. It was those trips as a child that sparked my love for photography. It also seems very appropriate to go there on this Father’s Day weekend.
Longwood has changed over these last 30+ years but not as much as the rest of the world. The familiar can be very comforting.
Wedding Album
I just added another video to our You Tube account. It’s from an album design we just did for Andrea and Roy. Cute couple who met while on a cruise. They celebrated they’re ceremony and reception at the Mansion at Main Street in Voorhees.
Leon and Jen
We often hear about how lucky the groom is to find such a wonderful bride. Leon is one of those grooms who feels that way. And it showed in his nervousness at the church and his tears when Jen came down the aisle.
They make such a happy couple you want to be around them all day.
Have you hugged your Mom today?
Five days ago you couldn’t get a seat at any decent restaurant unless you planned well ahead of time. Mom’s woke to breakfast in bed and fresh flowers. Some got jewelry but the lucky ones got handmade cards from their kids.

Some old news

A few weeks ago at the end of April the Professional Photographers’ Association of New Jersey had it’s annual print competition and subsequent awards banquet. This year I took home two Blue Ribbons & two Red Ribbons from the photographic open.
One of the entries, “A Pad of My Own”, was awarded a Court of Honor and a Judge’s Choice Award.
Yes, I know what your thinking, “It’s a bug”. And I have to agree, but I guess it shows that I can win awards not just for my weddings and portraits but for my nature work as well.
Yvonne and Jamie (Wedding Day)
You have to love the white beaches down here in Ft. Myers, FL. Even though the grooms family was from New York and the bride’s was from New Jersey they all made the trip down to join them at the Pink Shell. We had a great sunset on the beach and they could not have timed it any better.

Yvonne and Jamie (pre Wedding)
We’re just a few hours away from the wedding of Yvonne and Jamie down here on sunny and warm Ft Myers Beach, FL. These two are so quite together I had to post up pair of shots from to at the Pink Shell.

Natalie and Bart in Philadelphia
It’s always great when we have a fun loving couple for an engagement session. It’s even better when we do the shoot in the city. First we went to “Love Park” (actually it’s the JFK Plaza). Then we went to visit our friend Rocky at the art museum.
I can’t wait to shoot their wedding.

It’s a frame job I tell you.
Well as of today we’ve revamped our frames and added lots of new selections. Next time you are in, you’ll find some sleek contemporary frame corners as well as some truly rich looking ones.
You might also be surprised to learn that our frames are actually more affordable than those from the chain stores or local frame shops. I know what your thinking, you just read an advertisement where you can save 50% off. Well we read the same ad and decided to price compare.
Now we couldn’t find exact matches for our frames but we did find some similar ones. What we found was our every day price was at least 10% cheaper than the chain stores half off price. I’ll be honest I was surprised. Not shocked, just pleasantly surprised.

Communion Portraits are for Boys as well
In years past, about 90% of the Communion Portraits we do are of girls in their beautiful white dresses. This year might be different. Already we’ve seen a greater number of moms bring in their boys.
Looking back now I wish my parents had taken me for a session to the local photographer in town. Since I grew up in Mays Landing it would have been with Duke Doughty. Now these many years later I know Duke as a friend and mentor. It would have been neat to first have met him as my photographer.
They called for snow.
Just goes to show you that you can’t trust the weatherman. We had a great day with our two weddings from yesterday. Here are a few shots from Kate and Robbie.

And they are out of here
Say goodbye to our little friends. If you didn’t make it in this year be sure to call early next year as these sessions fill up fast.

Yolande & George Urban’s three kids
I was just doing the post production work on todays shoots and I thought I’d share this one with you. They are one of our past clients as well.
I love the expressions on all three kids.
It can always be a challenge to get a bunny and three kids to all look good at the same time. Deborah did a beautiful job with all the sessions today.
